Mobilegeddon

Google has preannounced an algorithm update stating that the mobile rankings would now differ for mobile-friendly sites starting from April 21st. The impact of this update is expected to be smaller.

This update is expected to penalize websites that did not provide a positive experience for mobile users. Some experts predict that the impact would be huge. However, surveys state that as many as 40% of the world wide websites fail to meet Google’s basic criterias for mobile user experience on tablets and smart phone devices.

Websites which are well optimized for mobile users can expect around 5% increase in their rankings. This weightage may increase in future when moer and more users turn to web browsing through mobile devices.
