Machine Language in Algorithms used by Google

Machine language has been around for a long time. Google recently seems to be using machine learning in its RankBrain for determining the quality of search results. Some details coming from Google suggest that RankBrain uses historical signals as a part of the machine learning process to evaluate search rankings and quality. It also appears that RankBrain is the one using machine language and Penguin has not been using machine language.

Google use what it calls “signals” to in its search results. It appears there are over 200 signals that is used to determine ranking factor and RankBrain is one such signal. It also appear the core algorithm might be machine language based in the future. Panda update is now the core algorithm and it is said be running in an automated fashion making decisions regarding ranking factors.

Panda update was declared to be a spam fighting algorithm. It seems a large number of such websites have taken a hit ever since its release. Although the world of internet is not completely free from spam sites Panda was a step in taking the fight to a next level in identifying and penalizing such sites. With latest information on Panda going machine learning based one can expect it to understand the various signals it receives and make decisions based on historical signals and make crucial decisions on ranking factors.

The idea of making panda more machine learning based seems to making it more automated and real time so it can work on its own making decisions based on its algorithm in a more effective manner there by giving lesser chances for spam site to survive.
