Google Can Now Label Links Manually

Some of the recent developments indicate that Google now has teams who can check websites manually for links and can label them accordingly based on their attributes. The update suggest that Google can now have teams check links manually to determine the position of the links on a website(Eg- a footer or header link), its legality on whether it has been disavowed and other criterial factors.

Through these checks Google will be able to label the links appropriately using different labels they have as a standard so that it becomes easy for Google to rank the pages associated with the link based on the labels. Although there isn’t much details available it is understood that this team working on checking links manually will be able to dig deeper into the pages to determine the validity of the links and take necessary action on whether to penalize them based on their findings.

The labels are categorized to denote different criteria such as if a link is a footer link or a link appearing on the main section of a page, disavow links based on their importance that is found through the checking process etc. There is also a “Penguin Real Time” label, if many links are labelled as “Penguin Real Time” labels then Google might actually try to get into those links to check what exactly the webmaster is trying to do with such links.

By using different labels for categorizing different type of links Google is able to determine the attributes and take necessary action based on the type of label associated with a link and its related page.
