Facebook, being the popular social network site that it is, attracts 167 million unique American visitors per month, who spend an average of 6 hours and 33 minutes going through the news feed and posting status updates. Tumblr is the second-most famous social site, among Americans, with its members spending an average of 1 hour and 38 minutes on the community blogs. The digital pin-board site is next in line, with users spending an average of 1 hour and 17 minutes per month. Twitter, LinkedIn and other social networking sites are yet to compete with these outstanding user engagement figures.

The relatively new Google+ and the once famous MySpace are both on the same level, with Google +attracting 18 million and MySpace attracting 19 million unique American visitors per month. The average American visitor spends a total of 6 minutes on Google+ and 12 minutes on MySpace. The time spent in the US, on Facebook each month, is more than 600 times the time spent on Google+.

This data from Statista along with recent reports on Facebook users in the US, from Nielsen, show that Americans just can’t get enough of social networking sites, with most of them spending a quarter of their time online. With the growing popularity of Facebook in India, do you think it is only a matter of time before India catches up with the US?
