There has always been constant changes to the way Google search engines work to meet the ever increasing technology in the field of web development. Mobile web development has seen the most rapid increase in user base in recent years. The recent update comes to this particular category with Google downgrading the importance of structured data for AMP that makes pages invalid.

With the emergence of structured data Google had been placing much importance on it for validating pages. A lot of pages has been made invalid based on AMP’s having “missing structured data” or “invalid structured data.” Google had been penalizing such pages in its search results making webmasters do the appropriate changes to fix the invalid structure data. With this new update Google even when it find AMP’s with invalid or missing structured data will not penalize the pages causing it fall in search engine rankings. Rather Google will consider this type of incomplete structured data as additional information.

By considering the incomplete structured data as additional information AMP’s will not suffer drop in rankings search engines and will more or less retain them based on other criteria that make a perfect AMP’s according to Google guidelines. The importance of structured data will still remain because it will have clear information for the crawlers in helping them understand what a particular page is all about, but the presence or absence of insufficient structured data will not influence the search results anymore.

This update will make webmasters see lesser errors in their reports as Google will consider these insufficient data as additional information going forward.
