Ecommerce Websites on the Rise in India

India’s e-commerce business sector is highly competitive these days, with US Amazon building up its vicinity in India in 2013 and Alibaba, the Chinese giant, wanting to begin operations by August this year. Flipkart, India’s biggest e-commerce firm, as of late raised $550 million.

Regardless of having the third-biggest internet user base in the world with 200 million users towards the end of 2014, India does not rank in the top 10 ecommerce markets in the world. The reasons include low internet users, slow internet speed and poor customers services.

Some of the reasons for low online sales are due to the following,

First, the internet infrastructure in India has to be improved. If one steps outside city limits, you automatically are shifted from 3G to an Edge (a lower-speed) connection, discouraging buyers.

Second, customer support is very poor in India. For a country to which a large amount of call center services has been outsourced, the quality of customer service still remain very poor.

Third, internet unlike other countries is yet to reach the masses in India, the average Internet users are low when compared to countries leading in ecommerce industry.

With a large number of mobile users the future of ecommerce in India, clearly seems to be on the rise.
