Use Anchor Text

Some of the most common anchor texts are “Click Here” or “Read More. “Although most of the readers understand what it means and do follow the tags to read the complete information provided it’s not the best anchor text that one can use.

Instead more interactive anchor text can be used to make it more interesting. For instance something like “More on Google Updates” for an article related to Google updates is a much better anchor text that the normal “Click Here” or “Read More.”

Search Engine Friendly Permalinks

A lot of URLs use strings and variables, although they are useful in directing to information to a particular page, SEO friendly URLs are recommended.

CMS one of the most popular application for content management had a lot of plugins that can help you make URLs much SEO friendly. For example if there is an URL yourdomain.com/?f=12&string=about-SEO, these plugin can help you easily rename them to a much SEO friendlier link like yourdomain.com/about-SEO. This makes it much easier for the crawlers that are searching for keywords in URL’s.

Use Category Title and Description

One of the most common permalink structure used is www.domain.com/my-article.Although this is type of URL are crawler friendly adding a category to the URL boosts the efficiency of the URL much further. If the same domain is rewritten like
www.domain.com/category/my-article the crawlers are able to identify under which category a particular page falls into and helps them rank the page accordingly under the particular category.

Sub-Directories instead of Sub-Domains

Sub domains usually looks simple and much better. But having sub directories is much more SEO friendly because sub domains are most often treated as separate domains, by using sub directories the overall efficiency of SEO is boosted significantly.
