Have you got your Facebook Brand Page Timeline ready yet?

With Facebook making the big switch to the new timeline format, it’s time to make some essential changes to your brand page. Here is an extensive checklist that can guide you to seamlessly implement the facebook timeline into your business page.

1. Make your cover image impressive

Your cover image should be appropriate for your business and should be in sync with your brand’s message. Do put in some time, energy and money while choosing a cover image, as your customers will be making their first impression about you from it. If you are short on budget, you can buy images from Shutterstock or use some of Digital Blasphempy’s free images. Keep these in mind, while selecting an image:

  • Only use a cover image that you own the copyright for or have the permission to use
  • Use a cover image size that is 851px X 315px
  • Avoid using pricing, selling and other call to action buttons on the cover image
  • Try not to incentivize sharing or liking on your cover image
  • Include contact details, like, address, telephone, email/web address, only in the “About Us” area of your profile and not on the cover image

2. Share private messages with fans/customers

Has the fear of people saying negative things about your business on your brand page stopped you from venturing into facebook? You can now put these fears aside with the new messaging format in facebook’s timeline. Instead of everything being written right on your wall, you can privately address the concerns of your fans/customers.

3. Make the most of the landing page & tabs

As opposed to the old system, in which you could experiment with different landing pages and multiple tabs, the new timeline has just one default landing page with only four tabs. You can customize the name and icons of 3 tabs.

4. Pin up important content & add milestones

You can now “pin up” significant offers, posts, contests or messages on the top for a period of 7 days. This content will not get displaced even when you post updates or upload photos. Add milestones for your brand page for things that are important to your customers.
